In this new series, a group of GPs are on the lookout for any ‘miracle’ home remedies that could provide simple, safe and scientifically convincing health solutions.
If any of the applicants can convince the GPs there might be something of substance in their remedy, then it will be put forward to a small trial or test. The series aims to find out who knows best – doctors who go by the book or member of the public who make their own medicines.
The first episode introduces us to Simon and Andy, who believe WD-40 could be a quick fix cure for arthritis. Mum-of-two Sophie has a cure for child teething while Carl claims to have rid himself of an eight year old verruca with the help of duct tape.
But it remains to be seen if the doctors will find these remedies dangerous or safe as they decide if these home cures are convincing or just simply implausible.
Health Freaks airs tonight on Channel 4 at 8:30pm
