TV presenter Ellie Harrison will visit the Somerset Levels in Sunday’s final episode of Britain’s Big Wildlife Revival.
The last episode of the series will be shown on BBC One from 5.35pm to 6.35pm this Sunday. September 29Ellie goes on a nocturnal hunt for insects, watches rare egrets and bitterns, and discovers how former peat diggings have been transformed into a special place for people and wildlife. Ellie discovers how the UK’s tallest bird, the crane, has been reintroduced to the West Country after an absence of almost 500 years and visits an ambitious re-introduction programme in Slimbridge.
The RSPB’s Tony Whitehead says: “If you provide the habitat the birds will come.” The wetlands are leading the way in the “rewilding” of Britain allowing native species to expand their range and number and attracting new species from beyond the UK’s shores.
