PACT – Laura Mansfield Appointed as Pact Council Chair

Laura Mansfield has today been appointed as Pact Council Chair, as Sara Geater steps down to become COO of All3Media.

Under Pact’s constitution, non-qualifying independent producers, such as All3Media, can be Pact members but are unable to sit on Pact Council.

In the event of the Chair stepping down, the person with the next highest number of votes at the election – in this case Laura Mansfield – is appointed. An election to replace Laura as Vice Chair will take place shortly.

John McVay, Chief Executive of Pact, said: “I would like to thank Sara Geater for her time as Chair. She has steered Pact’s responses to Ofcom’s PSB Review, and the BBC Content Supply Review, as well as taking part in negotiations with broadcasters on Terms of Trade. She will be missed but I look forward to working with her in her new role and wish her good luck.

“And I would like to welcome Laura to her new role. Laura has been on Pact Council for over two years now and brings a wealth of experience to the post. I look forward to working with her over the next two years”.

Sara Geater said: “It’s been a privilege to both Chair and sit on Pact’s Council for the last few years. I wish Laura well and we will continue to support Pact through All3Media’s membership”.

Laura Mansfield said: “It’s been a pleasure and inspiration working with Sara, and I wish her all the very best in her new role at All3Media. It’s an exciting time in our industry, and with key issues like BBC Charter Renewal ahead, it’s an important couple of years for Pact. As someone who’s been running an indie for the last 16 years, I’m utterly passionate about celebrating the creativity and dynamism in our sector and very much looking forward to working with John and all the team at Pact in my new capacity.” – See more at:
